Architecture for All

The quality of the built environment has a strong influence on the quality of people’s lives.

Buildings and spaces that are designed inclusively, contribute to breaking down barriers. They can greatly enhance a person’s mobility, their sense of belonging and security, their health and well being. They contribute also to the strengthening of communities whilst responding to the needs of people of all ages and abilities.

Architecture for All is about good design that responds to peoples needs. It is also about the creation of spaces which are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. By 2050 40% of the European population will be over 60. A possible 30% will be living with a disability. The challenge for architects to-day is to ensure that the built environment will facilitate the active participation and independence of all.
